Copper Gaskets
Torr Scientific offer a range of OFHC (Oxygen Free High Conductivity) copper gaskets for installing Conflat flanged viewports and feedthroughs.
The gaskets are available in a standard range of sizes and are available in two versions:
- Annealed copper
- Silver-plated annealed copper
We recommend the use of annealed copper gaskets for installing viewports and electrical feedthroughs as they are softer (approx. 45 Brinell) compared to the stand unannealed gasket (approx. 85 Brinell). This means that less force is required to make a leak-tight seal.
Silver plated copper gaskets have a 5µm thick silver coating, they are used when the installation is exposed to higher temperatures, such as with our Kodial, high temp sapphire, and CVD diamond viewports. The silver plating stops the build up of copper oxide on the exposed atmospheric side of the gasket, which makes it cleaner and easier to remove after being baked.
Each gasket is individually packed, so they have a long shelf life.
