Torr Scientific Optical Diamond Viewport installed at MAX IV in Lund, Sweden.

Torr recently supplied an optical quality diamond viewport to The Technical University of Denmark.

This viewport is currently being installed on the DanMAX materials science beamline at the MAX IV Synchrotron facility in Sweden.

Optical diamond was chosen so as to retain coherence of the incoming X-ray beam whilst enabling a very thin optical material. The window separates the UHV zone from the beam transport tube.

The DanMAX beamline is a dedicated materials science beamline, dedicated to in situ and operando experiments on real materials. The beamline will operate in the 15–35 keV range and have two end stations: one for full-field imaging, and one for powder X-ray diffraction. The beamline is primarily funded through Danish sources.

If you have a special requirement for a customised diamond viewport, please contact us at sales@torrscientific.co.uk.
