Torr’s Business Development Manager – Phil Marston – recently took part in a triathlon held at the beautiful Blenheim Palace (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blenheim_Palace) in Oxfordshire in the UK. Despite being in the twilight of his years and facing increasing decrepitude, Phil took part in the sprint triathlon which consisted of a 750 m lake swim, followed by a 20 km bike ride, and ended with a 5 km run.
Phil joined the team from “Expert in Mind” who were looking for sponsorship to raise money for the charity “Veterans With Dogs“. The charity trains and provides mental health assistance dogs for current and former members of the British Armed Forces. In total, the team raised over £3,000 for this worthwhile cause, including a generous donation from Torr Scientific.
Phil finished in a (all things considered) not-too-bad time of 2 hours and 18 minutes overall, he was the only person in the team to tackle the whole event, the rest of the team entered as relay team members and so only did one or two of the three events. There’s talk already of doing the whole thing again next year!
