Our Italian representatives – 5Pascal (Cinquepascal S.R.L.) recently exhibited at several of exhibitions in Italy. Torr sent them a collection of parts from our product range for display as part of their offering at both events.
These events were:
- NanoInnovation 2024 held in Rome in September
- ECCO XLII meeting held in Bari in November
- CNR-INO Symposium held in Florence in November

NanoInnovation 2024 is a well-established national meeting point for the wide and multidisciplinary community involved in the development of nanotechnology and its integration with other key enabling technologies (KETs), in all fields of application.
This year, topics underlying Innovation, Nanomedicine, Nanomaterials, Energy, and related ecosystems received special attention, with the aim of enhancing the technological and social return on investment in research and higher education.
NanoInnovation 2024 will once more gather researchers, technologists, managers, entrepreneurs, and investors who will share their experiences, opinions, and expectations on the topics proposed this year, with constant focus on the world of nanotechnology. Special attention was paid to the direct involvement of young researchers, doctoral students, and students, to support their inclusion in the professional world and foster their role as protagonists in the future of our Society. The event included technical symposia, workshops, schools, joint events, training courses, a poster session, an industrial exhibition and other interesting initiatives.
The next NanoInnovation meeting will be held in Rome again in September 2025.
The ECCO XLII meeting, held over three days in Bari on the beautiful south-east Adriatic coast, focused on the theme “Microbe & Microbiome Management for a Better Planet.” Exhibitors and delegates who attended were treated to a wide range of presentations and lectures at the event.
The European Culture Collections’ Organisation (ECCO) was established in 1981. The aim of the organisation is to promote collaboration and exchange of ideas and information about all aspects of culture collection activity. ECCO meetings are held annually and are a valuable forum for discussion and innovation on the future development of member collection activities. ECCO comprises 90 members from 24 European countries.
Corporate membership of ECCO is open to representatives of any microbial resource centre that provides a professional public service on demand and without restriction, that accepts cultures for deposit, that provides catalogues and that is housed in countries with microbiological societies affiliated to the Federation of the European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). In addition, member collections must be registered with the World Data Center of the World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC). The organisation welcomes sustaining and individual members.
The total holdings of the collections number over 930 000 biological resources, representing yeasts, filamentous fungi, bacteria and archaea, phages, plasmids including plasmid bearing strains and other recombinant DNA constructs, animal cells including human and hybridoma cell lines, animal and plant viruses, plant cells, algae and protozoa. It represents a vital source of reference strains and genetic resources for research and industry and a large pool of biodiversity of microorganisms isolated from humans, animals, plants, foodstuffs and the environment.
The CNR INO Annual Symposium is the annual meeting that the National Institute of Optics of the National Research Council organizes with the aim of bringing together researchers from the National Institute of Optics, the scientific and academic communities, industries and political authorities in view of new scientific and technological shared paths in the sectors of Optics, Laser, Atomic and Molecular Physics and Plasmas. It was held at the CNR – Istituto Nazionale di Ottica in Firenze.
The National Institute of Optics (Istituto Nazionale di Ottica, CNR-INO) has been working for over ninety years in the broad field of Optics, updating its activities in line with the huge innovations that have characterized this area over the last century. Its main activities include pure and applied research, technology transfer, and training. These are accompanied by metrology, consulting, and testing services for both public institutions and private companies.
Topics included biophotonics, cold matter and quantum simulations, extreme light and matter, heritage science, renewable energies, quantum optics, sensors, and spectroscopy.
