Alfie Demain

Alfie Demain

Joining the team as a Production Operative in Quality Assurance, Alfie highlighted how Torr has helped him build upon his skills. Thanks to this opportunity, he now feels more confident working within a group and independently; and has expressed how the working environment within Torr has been so welcoming. The highest compliment being how he was able to quickly “fit in and work with a smile”. He is now looking forward to building upon even more skills here at Torr!

Angela Rodrigues Naves

For Angela, Torr has been quite different from her previous experiences. As a graduate from an environmental background, she is “really enjoying getting acquainted with the scientific manufacturing industry”, and described how she is embracing the challenge of the workplace “learning about both the products we offer and the engineering processes each product goes through”. She is optimistic about her time with Torr and is excited for the future “this is shaping up to be a really fun job, in a company with a good work culture”. When she is out of the office Angela spends her time reading, crocheting, and painting, and is a lover of “any and all creative outlets really!”

Max Pritchard

Now working with Torr as an Apprentice Accountant, and studying towards his AAT with East Sussex College, Max discovered Torr Scientific at one of the college’s job fairs. He describes how at the event he was “sold the idea of working at Torr very well” by our representatives. Since then, he has “thoroughly enjoyed” his time here, putting this down to the friendliness and helpfulness of his colleagues. Max also discussed how the apprenticeship has taught him a lot about not only accounting but the importance of communication between the departments in a company. Outside of work, he spends his time playing sports such as basketball and football.

Rianna Green

Rianna Green

Recently joining Torr as an addition to the marketing team, Rianna’s educational background has intertwined science communication: a pairing of media and science, with psychology: the study of human behaviour. With previous experiences including roles surrounding events and editorials, she is looking forward to developing new interests at Torr, especially blending marketing in her skill set. In her spare time, she enjoys creating music, writing poetry, and spending time outdoors with friends and family.

Rielly McDonnell

Rielly McDonnell

Already working here for 9 months, Rielly is even more excited to assist with the future endeavours at Torr. With a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a year’s experience in computing, his knowledge has been irreplaceable within the Vacuum Optics department. As a Production Operative, he has praised his colleagues for their “welcoming” nature and willingness to share their industry knowledge, and he is looking forward to his first anniversary with the team. Challenging himself comes second nature for Rielly with his adventurous activities outside of Torr, completing the Hastings’ half-marathon and a 40-mile trip on Dartmoor within 2024.
