SPIE Photonics West Exhibition, San Francisco USA in January 2025

Torr Scientific had a stand at the recent SPIE Photonics West event held in San Francisco USA in January 2025.

The exhibition marks the start of the optics and photonics calendar every year, it draws in a large crowd from the photonics and optics industries and includes world-class plenary speakers, technical and networking events, more than 50 training courses and a massive exhibition set over 3 halls of the Moscone Center in San Francisco. You can read the preview here.

There are special areas and courses dedicated to biomedical optics, laser technologies, optoelectronic devices and quantum technology.
There was an extra set of events marking 20 years of its Women in Optics notebook.

On the Torr Scientific stand we displayed many parts from our standard and custom product range, these included AR‑coated fused silica viewports, ZnSe viewports, coated CVD diamonds, phosphor screens, glass tubulations, Brewster windows, biological sensors, and X‑ray anodes. The stand was manned by Pat Brown (General Manager) and Phil Marston (Business Development Manager).

We also had a special assembled display of an MOT (magento-optical trap) chamber coupled to a new Torr developmental ion pump and a glass quantum cell. The MOT chamber included two indium‑sealed AR‑coated large windows and a series of 7 CF mini-flanges with AR coatings. Our stand was visited by a wide range of new and existing customers from different technical backgrounds throughout the 3 days of the exhibition.

The final summary of the show was 1,588 exhibitors, 24,000 visitors from 75 different countries and over 5,000 technical presentations given during the event.
