Kodial zero length viewport

Torr Scientific offers a wide range of Kodial vacuum viewports in the Conflat® (CF), ISO or KF flange style. These viewports are constructed from a borosilicate optic and they are sealed using either an induction heater or bonded process. Glass-to-metal sealing for all Kodial viewports is conducted in‑house in our glass shop.

Kodial viewports are rugged, allowing for repeated bakeouts at high temperatures to achieve ultra‑high vacuum (UHV) and they offer broadband optical transmission from visible to near‑infrared.

Our Kodial viewports are helium leak tested, cleaned and packed to UHV standards.

Kodial transmission curve

Kodial viewports: what are the further possibilities?

 

  • Large area (LA) gives a wider view diameter.
  • The lead glass (LG) option utilises an added lead glass disc placed on the atmosphere side of the Kodial viewport to protect against X-ray radiation.
  • Re-entrant style Kodial viewports can provide access for equipment, such as cameras, to the vacuum chamber.
  • Non-standard options – standard designs can be customised according to customer requirements – contact sales to find out more.

Torr also offers accessories for viewports, such as annealed copper gaskets, viewport safety covers and bolts or clamps for KF or ISO flanges.

What AR & ITO coatings are available for Kodial viewports?

 

Anti-reflective (AR)

  • Kodial viewports are suitable for AR, VAR, WAR or BBAR coatings.
    • Coatings help to increase the transmission at customer specified wavelengths and reduce reflection
    • Transmission range of Kodial: visible to near-infrared

Indium tin oxide (ITO)

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) coating- aims to reduce electrostatic charge build up on the vacuum side of the optic.
