To pair alongside our extensive range of vacuum viewports, Torr Scientific also offers various CF style viewports shutters. These are mounted between the viewport and the flange.
Viewport shutters help to protect the optic from a build-up of coating deposition materials when in a closed position.
The shutter is opened and closed by turning the rotary drive 90 degrees. A screw lock on the rotary drive allows the shutter to be locked in both opened or closed positions.
This makes our shutters the perfect accessory for use within vacuum deposition and for vacuum evaporation applications.
All our vacuum instruments are inspected, helium leak tested and cleaned to UHV standards on site at Torr Scientific.

How do our viewport shutters work?
Torr Scientific’s viewport shutters are based around a double-sided flange, a rotary drive is used to rotate a metal plate in two positions. The first position covers the optic for protection, the second position is open allowing the user visual access into the system.
